If you are looking to whip up a fun and festive recipe to celebrate America, this 4th of July Party Mix is the perfect solution! It's a sweet and salty, crunchy and creamy pairing of white chocolate and your favorite party mix add-ins.

Pretzels, M&Ms, cheerios and more all tossed together with melted white chocolate that is a great dessert to bring to a 4th of July cookout or even gift in cute little bags for neighbors!

Why You'll Love This Patriotic Party Mix

I love a quick sweet treat that's easy to make with kids. Chex mix of any kind is really a go-to in our house because its so easy to customize and quick to make! Just like this Pink Party Chex Mix I love for Valentines Day.

However, if you are looking for the perfect summer version of a snack mix, try this red, white, and blue Chex mix! It'll be a hit with kids and parents.

You'll love it because....

It's quick to make. Less than 5 minutes to mix up!

Perfect for kids to help with. Rosie LOVED dumping all the ingredients in and any treat she gets to help with is a win in my book.

Easy to customize. Add or subtract ingredients based on your preferences, it's easy to adjust.

Ingredients Needed

I've made this dozens of times and you likely have most of these ingredients right in your pantry!

Chex cereal - use any kind of Chex cereal you like! We love using corn Chex, wheat Chex, or rice Chex!

Cheerios - I like to used the slightly sweet Honeynut Cheerios or the generic version.

Peanut M&Ms - I found the patriotic colored M&Ms for this seasonal mix, but feel free to use whichever colors you have access to. I also enjoy using peanut M&Ms because it adds even more texture to our mixture.

Pretzels - This adds the touch of salt that we need to cut through all of the sweetness and add a little crunch to our party mix.

White Chocolate - Use a white chocolate bark or candy coating to be sure it hardens up nicely when it comes back to room temperature!

Sprinkles - Sprinkles are optional but a really fun way to highlight any holiday you'd be making this mix for!

Step-By-Step Instructions

Now we've gathered the ingredients, there's only one thing left to do...mix it up! This is my daughter's favorite part and she loves to measure and dump each ingredient.

This 4th of July party mix is truly a piece of cake to make, try it out for your next neighborhood get together!

Substitutions and Variations

You can get so creative with a party mix like this, adding in fun textures, colors and more! It's really easy to adjust based on your likes and dislikes and also perfect for any season.

Try different kinds of M&Ms like the caramel, regular, or even brownie batter M&Ms for a unique spin.

Use corn Chex, rice Chex, or wheat Chex for a unique texture added to the mix.

Add in peanuts or almonds for extra crunch!

Toss this in dark chocolate instead of white chocolate for something a little less sweet.

And of course, switch out the colors of sprinkles to reflect whichever holiday you'd be making this for!

Party Mix Tips and Tricks!

While this is a simple recipe, here are some tips and tricks I have to make it even easier for you...

  • Melt the white chocolate in 30 second increments. Stir after each additional 30 seconds until the chocolate is fully melted.
  • You might have to mix with your hands! Get in there and mix it up with your hands if the spoon is too tricky after pouring in the melted chocolate.
  • Prep this up to 4 days ahead of serving. It stores really well in an airtight container so definitely make this ahead of time!
  • Did you know you can FREEZE snack mix like this? Simply store in an airtight Tupperware and defrost at room temperature.
