Hot Cocoa Dip

This viral TikTok Hot Cocoa Dip is a fan favorite for obvious reasons! So when my family had an Elf themed Christmas dinner party, this felt like an appropriate dessert!

3 ingredient dessert, less than 10 minutes to make, AND it's super easy to customize.

Why you will love this TikTok Hot Cocoa Dip

3 ingredient dessert, less than 10 minutes to make, AND it's super easy to customize. There are many ways to make this chocolate dip your very own!

Having a go-to festive dessert that's easily made ahead of time is really perfect for this time of year.

Few Ingredients. I love it because most desserts require baking, tons of accurate measuring, and the fact that you only need 3 ingredients for this hot chocolate dip made it a winner in my book!

Quick Prep Time. Other than letting the cool whip come to room temperature, making this hot chocolate dip recipe takes less than 10 minutes!

Customizable and FUN! Try out different flavors of cocoa, different toppings, and hot cocoa dippers. The combinations are endless.

Ingredients You'll Need

Like mentioned above, the hot cocoa dip 3 ingredients are easy to whip together and here's what you'll need!

  • thawed Cool Whip
  • marshmallow creme
  • hot cocoa mix - feel free to use any flavor or even make your own hot cocoa mix.

For serving, use graham crackers for dipping & I topped it with chopped peppermint bark and mini marshmallows. YUM!

Hot Chocolate Dip Toppings

Now as far as toppings for the hot chocolate dip, GO CRAZY! This is your time to customize this creamy marshmallow chocolate dip. Use your favorite hot cocoa toppings or go with something out of the box.

  • crushed candy canes or peppermint
  • chocolate sauce
  • freeze dried strawberries
  • reeces cups
  • crushed graham crackers
  • mini chocolate chips
  • marshmallow bits

Substitutions

There are a few different variations I've seen of this chocolate dessert dip, and while these are the simpliest ingredients...you could definitely swap in substitutions!

  • Hot cocoa could be swapped for cocoa powder + extra sweetener like agave syrup.
  • Swap out the marshmallow fluff for cream cheese. This will make it a bit more dense and more like a chocolate cheesecake dip.
  • You could sub out the cool whip and make hot cocoa dip with heavy whipping cream if you'd like! Just whip up the heavy cream first before adding the rest of the ingredients.
  • If you are dairy free, you could also use a non dairy whipped topping from the frozen department!

How to Make Creamy Hot Cocoa Dip

The instructions for chocolate marshmallow dip are almost as simple as the ingredients. This is one of my favorites for kids to help out with because the measurements don't have to be exact and Rosie loves to lick the spoon!

Tools Needed

  • mixing bowl
  • hand mixer
  • spatula

Making The Homemade Chocoalte Dip

  1. Empty the room thawed cool whip into the mixing bowl and add the marshmallow fluff.
  2. Mix on medium speed using the hand mixer until the marshmallow creme and cool whip are combined.
  3. Sprinkled in the packets of hot cocoa and mix again on medium speed.
  4. Mix for 2-3 minutes until fully incorprated and the texture isn't still gritty from the powder.
  5. Scoop into a bowl and top with mini marshmallows, chopped peppermint bark, and serve with graham crackers!

Favorite Dippers for Hot Cocoa Dip

The hot cocoa dippers are another way to make this dip your very own. While I stuck with graham crackers, there are so many options from salty to sweet...

  • Nilla Wafers
  • Pretzel Sticks
  • Ritz Crackers
  • Cinnamon Graham Crackers
  • Large Marshmallows
  • Gingerbread Men cookies

What To Serve With Hot Chocolate Dip

In my opinion, this marshmallow fluff hot chocolate dip would be best served up along side more fresh dessert options like Fruit Charcuterie or a cheese plate!

It's very sweet and would be a great addition to any dessert table at your Christmas parties!

FAQ

  • How To Store Hot Cocoa Dip: Hot cocoa dip is best stored in an airtight container in the fridge. I also stored it in its serving bowl covered tightly with saran wrap.
  • How To Serve Leftover Hot Chocolate Dip: I removed this from the fridge about 30 minutes before serving it just to let it come to room temperature and make it easy to dip!
  • Can you make hot cocoa dip without marshmallow fluff? Yes! You could substitute in some cream cheese for this; however it will be more dense.
  • Can you make ahead of time? YES! I made this a day ahead of time and just brought it to room temperature right before serving.
