One of my most beloved sauces (Franks Hot Sauce) definitely had to have it's own dip recipe on White Kitchen Red Wine. I love buffalo sauce and this unique Buffalo Jackfruit Dip with Blue Cheese will blow your mind!
What is Jackfruit?
Jackfruit is a...fruit. Ha! However when it's cooked up you can shred it like chicken! Perfect for tacos, dips, enchiladas, on its own!
The one I buy from Trader Joes is in a brine, so it goes excellent with buffalo sauce because it's already a bit tangy!
Cooking Jackfruit
So cooking the jackfruit is the hardest part of this recipe. And spoiler: its not that hard.
We are basically going to steam it! Place it in a sauce pan with a bit of water, cover the pan and let it steam!
In a few minutes it will be able to be shredded apart and you'd never know the difference from chicken.
Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip
So this is where the magic happens in this dip! ADDING BLUE CHEESE. So this is super polarizing. I get it.
Blue cheese totally grosses some people out, but you hardly even notice in this dip, but it adds a little something extra.
If you are totally against it, sub in ranch dressing! If you need some other dip ideas for appetizers or game days, check out this Skinny Mexican Corn Dip, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, or 10 Minute Romesco Dip
Making the Dip
So the dip consists of warming up the jackfruit and stirring in buffalo sauce, blue cheese, and greek yogurt.
Top with an additional drizzle of blue cheese (or ranch...) and serve!
Substitutions
So not so sure about jackfruit? You can definitely sub in shredded chicken!
Like I mentioned before you can totally add in ranch dressing instead of blue cheese.
How To Serve Buffalo Jackfruit Dip
So obviously you can serve it as a dip with vegetables, corn chips, or whatever chip you like!
I also have been known to heat it up in a corn tortilla and make buffalo jackfruit tacos! Top with some fresh avocado and cilantro. YUM!
