Needing a dish that is a little lighter, maybe sweet, but definitely holiday table worthy? Easy Prep Fall Fruit Salad is the ticket! Fall fruits, a sweet and tangy balsamic dressing is a fall combo you can't help but love.

  • close up shot of fruit salad focusing on the pomegranate, pear, and apple.
  • pomegranate dripping with balsamic glaze

Fruit In Season During Fall

One of the most obvious fruits that are perfect in the fall are apples! So we definitely had to include apples in this salad.

Our quick list of more fall fruits that are in season and work in this salad are pomegranate, pears, apples, and grapes! I love that they are all different textures, sizes, and sweetness levels.

The burst of the pomegranate paired with the subtle sweetness of the pears and the brightness of the apple are great balances to each other.

Balsamic Dressing on Fruit Salad

Balsamic dressing is actually a perfect solution to all those sweet fruits. It lends itself well to balancing out sweetness because it is acidic.

I love this Balsamic Dressing from Aldi and I also use it a lot in my Fall Harvest Spinach Salad! It's a great all purpose Balsamic Vinaigrette for salads or even a marinade!

Easy Prep Fruit Salad

One good thing about this salad is that it comes together in less than 10 minutes and is kid friendly, adult friendly, weeknight dinner friendly, or holiday table appropriate!

One thing I would suggest is prepping the pomegranate seeds ahead of time (see here for the best way to get out pomegranate seeds!) but hold off on slicing the apples and pears until assembling the salad.

This just ensures that your apples and pears don't brown too quickly! Once the dressing is on you'll never know though if they get a little brown.

When Do I Put Dressing on a Fruit Salad?

Wait until right before you serve! You don't want things to get mushy on you. So hold off until you take it to the table and then add your dressing.

You could even set the dressing on the table in a cute carafe and let people add it right before eating. This also makes sure if you have any leftovers they aren't ruined.
